May 2022: Trader of the Month - Route 66
Tell us a bit about your business:
From the streets of San Ysidro, Southern California, we bring authentic, delicious homemade burritos to the fine folk of London.
How eco-friendly are you?
We make every effort to ensure our wastage is as near zero as possible, all of our packaging is 100% recyclable, and we work as locally as we can.
What you do you like most about trading at Catford Food Market?
The team who run it are a great bunch of people who make it really enjoyable and bring a sense of togetherness and community. We love them.
How important is customer service?
Out of ten, it’s an eleven.
How important is branding?
We don’t do it. Instead we just spend our time making the best food we can, and getting to know our customers, because we like them, not because they’re a focus group.
What does it take to be a successful trader?
For us it’s about being the best we can be at making the food we love, being organised, reliable, hard working, and willing to get up at 5am in the cold winter rain.
What are your vegan options?
Our vegan burrito is one of our favourites from the menu! We also have veggie, dairy-free, and gluten-free options.
How do you promote yourself?
Our main marketing strategy is to provide healthy and delicious food that gets talked about, some of our regular customers have been coming to us for almost ten years, and are a part of the every-growing Route 66 family!
What does success look like to you?
Hibs winning the Scottish Cup.
What are your plans for the future?
To keep on keepin’ on.
